We just love woodland engagement sessions in Calgary! When Stephanie and Paul told me about their plans for their woodland engagement session, I got really excited! The engagement session is a great chance to just relax, get to know each other and have some fun before the wedding. Stephanie and Paul went for a gorgeous, romantic and more formal approach for their engagement photos – which looked absolutely beautiful! They even brought their amazing 3 year old Golden Retreiver puppy, Olive along. She was so excited about her Mom and Dad getting married that she had to leap into the river before photos even started. (More adorable Olive below!) I am so excited to capture their wedding and can’t wait to share in their special day.

Paul and I met 8 years ago when we were both living in Toronto. After 2 months of dating, Paul had to go back to Halifax for school and we continued dating long distance for a year. I moved out to Nova Scotia and after a year we decided it was time for the next adventure and we packed up everything we had and drove across the country to arrive in Calgary, Alberta!
Paul proposed a year ago and I had no idea it was coming! He planned a romantic weekend stay at Le Germain hotel, but because it was so close to his birthday I thought we were doing a birthday staycation for him! I was completely shocked to see candles and rose petals around the hotel room and on the bed was “will you marry me” spelled out in Scrabble tiles on a beautiful Scrabble board! I had often talked about how my favourite memories were up at the cottage playing Scrabble. He was able to incorporate my favourite game, and although he couldn’t get a cottage, he brought the cottage to the hotel with a cozy Hudson’s Bay blanket and other Canadiana! It was perfect!
Planning our wedding has been a lot of fun! Because our families are scattered across Canada from Vancouver and Whitehorse in the west, to Halifax and Fredericton in the east, the wedding is like a dual family reunion with a full week of activities planned! I couldn’t ask for a better way to spend time with my best friend and adventure buddy!
In the 8 years we’ve been together, Paul and I had never had professional photos taken of us, so our engagement session with Nicole was something really special. We had a great time, albeit a bit crazy with trying to get our 3 year old golden retriever Olive to cooperate, we had a blast! Big thank you to Nicole!!!
