2021 Wedding Trends
The 2021 wedding season is like no other! Wedding planning is in full swing and we are excited to see some of the trends popping up for 2021. We’re going to take a look at what we’ve been seeing and some must haves from inspiration online!
Your wedding is unique to you and your partner. Wedding trends are just that – trends. What you decide to do should be a reflection of you and your personalities, but we hope you find some inspiration in this post!
CASUAL, RELAXED EVENTS
Probably one of the more interesting trends we have seen is more casual events or events that mix a casual component with a more formal component another day. Some fun ideas we have seen including glamping, picnics, horseback riding, spa events and hiking! Some couples are choosing to have more informal events the day before the wedding as a way to engage with their family and guests prior to their wedding the next day. We are also seeing more intimate ceremonies with more of a focus on an activity or event for a smaller number of guests. Couples are more relaxed and able to spend quality time with everyone!
MICRO WEDDINGS
Micro weddings have to be our favourite 2021 wedding trend. With a more intimate guest count, couples have more budget room per person so they can really go all out if they want to have their dream wedding! Couples are able to celebrate over multiple days, have a trip or stay-cation or even luxury events and treats for their guests. We are seeing very elegant design approaches with full lush floral displays to enjoy. Gourmet meals and activities like luxury tastings are something we see coming this year!
ELOPE NOW PARTY LATER
Another interesting trend we are seeing is couples choosing to elope now and have an intimate wedding photography session with the party to happen later in the year or next year. This is only something we are seeing for couples who are planning very large guest counts and do not want to have a micro wedding. This allows you to become husband and wife now, and save the amazing party for later. This is usually reserved for couples whose families don’t mind an elopement happening without them being present.
IT’S ALL IN THE DETAILS
Lush beautiful greenery and florals are one of the biggest 2021 wedding trends we are seeing as our couples plan their day. Since many couples are opting for micro weddings, their budgets have opened up allowing for some of the most stunning floral displays we have seen to date. Cascading florals, flower walls and more are bringing the outdoors in and creating opulent and magical wedding days. We are also seeing a focus on beautiful bespoke stationary with custom illustrations and hand written calligraphy for a sophisticated touch.
WEDDING DRESSES
This year we see a lot of gorgeous wedding gowns with sleeves! Runways are ablaze with gorgeous sleeved gowns in a variety of fashions including puff sleeves, caps, billowed sleeves, delicate lace applique and more. Having a sleeved wedding gown adds an air of sophistication and elegance to a dress that cannot be matched. We also see a lot of brides opting to have a more fashion forward dress for their evening or activity portion of their wedding day.
GOURMET DINING
With smaller wedding guest counts couples are able to have truly delectable dishes for their reception. This is often a portion of the wedding day that guests remember most. We are seeing fabulous gourmet meals and some fun touches too like mobile caterers, prosecco vans, vintage gin and ice cream bars and more. We also see the trend of artisan pizza wagons and vegan vendors! These exciting additions are a blast for your guests and will have everyone talking!
LIVE STREAMING
The pandemic in 2020 has certainly creating the trend of live streaming. We foresee a lot of couples investing in professional live streaming services particularly for elopements and micro weddings. This allows you to still have everyone present at the events of your choosing.
BE UNIQUE, BE YOU
Even though trends are popular they should still be a reflection of you and your love, so be creative and alter things in a way that showcases who you are are a couple! Ensure that you incorporate elements of who you are as a couple and create your own style. Trends and inspiration are just that. At the end of the day be unique and be you!
