Kananaskis Mountain Engagement Nicole Sarah
How they met:
Daniel and Lindsey first met in January 2014, in Swansea Wales. Lindsey was visiting the United Kingdom from Canada, completing a 6-month exchange program at Swansea University. Daniel, who was originally from England, had just left the military and started his degree in environmental engineering. It was at Swansea University, on the same floor of residency, where they soon became friends. Over the next six months, they shared stories of their home countries, walked on the beach, explored new cities, and had many trips to the local. It was not long before Lindsey and Daniel fell in love!
Their Love story:
Upon Lindsey’s return to Canada, their relationship became long-distance. A year and a half passed where Lindsey and Dan would try to see one another whenever they could. Although challenging, they saw these brief visits as an opportunity to explore the world together. After completing her undergraduate degree, Lindsey decided to move to Swansea so she could be with Daniel. At 38 Cork House, they shared their first home, enjoying BBQs on the beach, the Gower coast, surfing, and long walks. Lindsey and Daniel supported one another throughout their academic and work endeavors, spending the first 5 years of their relationship in various parts of the UK. Recently, in 2019 they made the decision to move permanently to Edmonton, Alberta, to settle down. Surrounded by family and friends Lindsey and Daniel are enjoying this next chapter. They have recently bought their first home and are currently awaiting the arrival of their first puppy!
Proposal:
On May 2nd, 2020, on the 6th anniversary of their first date in Swansea, Daniel planned a surprise evening for Lindsey.
Although Daniel had known for quite some time that this was the day he was going to propose, Lindsey had no idea. It was a challenging time, with the COVID pandemic in full swing. Travel was not permitted, and restaurants and hotels were all closed. However, this did not stop Daniel. He had arranged for a relaxing day of reading books outside, going for a lovely walk, and had planned for them to pick up food from the Fairmont Hotel MacDonald. When they arrived, Daniel explained that there was a mix-up with their order, and they needed to go with the server. They were led to the back of the hotel to the garden patio. Within The Gazebo, sat a private table for two, sprinkled with rose petals. It was in that moment that Daniel explained he rented the entire garden, with a private meal arranged by the hotel for them to enjoy. He reassured Lindsey (more than once!) that all COVID protocols and regulations were adhered to. While they enjoyed the beautiful scenery and glass of wine, Daniel got down on one knee and asked Lindsey to marry him. And of course, she said yes! Despite all the odds and challenges, Daniel managed to plan an evening more special than either of them could have ever imagined.
Wedding plans
Lindsey and Daniel are getting married July 9th, 2022, in Canmore, Alberta. They are overjoyed to be able to celebrate their love with their closest family and friends, and spend the rest of their lives together!
