Hollywood Glam Downtown Engagement
How you met:
I was working at a restaurant when in walks this man wearing a blue suit with a matching accessory, his eyes!! I could not help but stare. His eyes were as blue as the ocean. Tim and his friend stayed at my table for an extraordinarily LONG lunch – he flirted, I flirted, I thought he is definitely going to ask me out. So, I waited…and waited…and waited – nothing. Eventually, I lost my patience (as I tend to) and beat him to it. I slide a piece of paper along the table and said “Since you are not going to ask for my number… He claims to this day that he was going to ask for my number – which could be true – but I am impatient and he procrastinates. (We haven’t changed). Exactly eight days later on my birthday, I receive a package at my workplace – it was a GORGEOUS bouquet of flowers with a card that read:
“I didn’t have to know you for long, to know you are the girl I have been looking for my whole life” – TIM
Who in their right mind would ever give up a man like that? NO ONE – so I didn’t and the rest is history!
Your love story:
Things moved along quickly, after five months we moved in together and a year after that we learned we had something exciting to share; we were going to have a baby! In November of 2018, Sloane was born and our lives acquired new hues –magical is an understatement. She changed our outlook on everything; life, love, needs, wants. She was the best thing to ever happen to us and we continue to feel blessed each day.
When Covid landed in Canada, we loaded up a new set of challenges to endure; a baby and a pandemic with a side of lockdown – a recipe to test the strongest relationships, and ours was no different. We have learned to understand each other and communicate in ways only forced isolation can facilitate! We are stronger now than we could have imagined and give ourselves to one another knowing our partner will be there for us through every up-and-down life can throw at us.
Five years later he finally proposed!
Your engagement story:
Classic engagement featuring a toddler. Two-year-old falls asleep on my shoulder in the middle of a private winery tour, Tim is hyper-focused on her sleeping (with Tim, this is commonplace!) and of course, I’m agitated, “what are you doing!? This is her nap time, let her sleep!”
Unknown to me, the clock is ticking. Our moment of total seclusion overlooking the serene Okanagan lake through the vines has an expiration. Visibly frustrated, Tim proceeds to kneel down in the vineyards, and I start shaking, my shaking is so vigorous that it wakes Sloane. I said “Sloane look at mommy’s sparkly RING!” Sloane lifts her head, looks, and slumps back on my shoulder, asleep. (I said Yes!)
Wedding plans
We are planning an intimate, classy, elegant wedding at the Bow Valley Ranche, with our immediate family and closest friends. Our theme aims to be sophisticated, minimalist, neutral, and white, with pops of light pink and hues of orange/beige/gold. The ceremony will take place outdoors, followed by an outdoor cocktail hour with lawn game competitions! We will retreat indoors for a spectacular reception with fabulous champagne, wine, and food ‘til the wee hours!
