Summer Wedding at Venue 308 Calgary
Ashley and Cam are one of those couples that just radiate this sort of peaceful happiness. They are such lovely people and I feel so honoured to have been chosen to be their wedding photographer! Venue 308 was such a perfect fit for their intimate day, the lighting and ambiance was lovely. In case you didn’t know, their pup Milo is an Instagram sensation and I’ve never had such a wonderful puppy on a wedding day. He might have been so adored that he possibly thought the day was all about him! I hope you enjoy this peek into their day and their story!
How They Met:
The very first time we met was actually because Cam walked into a study room where Ashley was sitting with her friend, and her friend’s friends (who were Cam’s friends) playing a video game. When said friends left, the first thing Cam said to Ashley was: “That’s a pretty big bio textbook”.
The rest is history!
Engagement story:
Not many people know this, and as cliché as it may sound, Cam never thought he would be getting married. The thought of it was kind of “meh” to him growing up. Until he met Ashley of course!
It was a strange transition and one that he wasn’t even aware of. Over the course of 6 years, conversations about marriage would come up and soon he would find himself browsing rings online. Cam consulted many friends and his future brother & sister in law about how and when to do it. As a way to ensure that engagement pictures of the ring were done well, Cam surprised Ashley with a manicure session to get her nails done! “Why all of a sudden?” Ashley would ask.
One windy day, Cam brought his brother-in-law (sister was out of town) and the 3 of them went for a walk in Crescent Hill (where they had their first date). At some point, Cam wanted to take pictures with Ashley (& Milo) and had his brother-in-law hold his camera to take pictures (all planned), and from there came to his knee!
The Wedding Day:
We wanted a simple wedding! We didn’t want to fuss over the details and have the so-called “perfect wedding”. We just needed it to be pretty enough for pictures, and low stress.
Our wonderful wedding planner (Monica from PicturePerfectWeddings) did a phenomenal job organizing everything for us and even helping us set up various decorations. We didn’t have to worry at all! It was a small wedding (~35 guests) which was honestly the perfect size.
Spending our time with Nicole was honestly one of the top moments. She also made it so easy for us and took such beautiful pictures!
Honeymoon? TBD. We thought it would be a great idea to have Ashley study for her CPA and to get a brand new Shiba puppy a few days after our wedding! Pro tip: Don’t do what we did.
