Sarah + Dave – Teatro Wedding
are amazing. Dave + Sarah’s Teatro wedding was an absolutely phenomenal day! These two are so generous and down to earth. It’s evident how important family and friendship are to them. The emotion in the room was beautiful and you could feel everyone glowing with happiness! My absolute favourite part of their day was getting to see them open their gifts and read their letters to each other. It was so, so filled with love that I welled up too. Enough from me you want the details! Read on to hear about how these love birds met and the story of their wedding day.
How did you meet?:
Dave and I met 6 years ago working together, many platonic Starbucks dates eventually lead to an acknowledgement of the attraction between us. We have built our relationship on a solid foundation of friendship and looking back wouldn’t have had it any other way!
Engagement story:
Our engagement took place on one of the coldest days of the year (-27 degrees) December 24, 2017. Dave surprised me with a ‘last minute’ trip to Lake Louise to spend our first Christmas together in the mountains. What I didn’t know is he had started designing the perfect engagement ring in October and there was nothing last minute about this trip.
Christmas Eve morning he had arranged a romantic horse drawn sleigh ride, once at the furthest tip of the lake we got out to take a photo and I was shocked to see Dave turn with ring box in hand. It was so cold I had to keep my mittens on and the ride back felt like eternity, once back at the hotel I got to pop some champagne, call our families, friends and stare at the rock!
The Wedding Day!
We wanted our wedding to have a classic, timeless feel featuring our favorite non-colors – black, white and gold. The architectural details of the main room at Teatro fit our vision perfectly and the crystal candelabras gave a glamourous feel to the classic theme that was next level. There’s nothing we love more than good food and good tequila, so both were an important feature in our wedding day.
Having our friends and family come from far and wide to be present on our special day was the absolute highlight for us. Dave’s family from west coast, Sarah’s family from east coast along with friends from all over Alberta, the US, Mexico City and Costa Rica travelled to celebrate our special day with us. We never have the chance to have all the people we love in one room together so having all them there brought us to tears on many occasions during the day.
Sarah’s Top Moment: Finally getting to see Dave when I went to walk down the aisle. We spent the whole day in hotel rooms next to each other, being so close without seeing each other built the anticipation so much I don’t think I saw a single person other than him the whole walk down.
Dave’s Top Moment: The moment I finally got to kiss Sarah after our ceremony. Being pronounced Mr. and Mrs. Urner was extremely special, she is the first woman to take the Urner last name since my parents were married 51 years ago. Oh and the midnight McDonalds we had delivered, most of our guests highlight too!
Our Song: Thomas Rhett – Die a Happy Man, a special song for us both. Thomas Rhett played at our music festival 3 years ago, right before we started dating but a love of the song was something we connected over and has resonated with us both about the other.
The Honeymoon:
We spent 10 incredible days in the most picturesque over-water bungalow in Bora Bora, an overwhelmingly generous wedding gift. We had both always dreamed of a honeymoon there and knowing we might never have another chance to go agreed it would be the perfect trip. It was the most perfect way to unwind over the craziness of wedding buildup and to start our married life!
