2019 Wedding Trends
Make way for 2019 Wedding Trends! The first few snowflakes have fallen and we are officially into engagement season! Soon you’ll be flooded with Pinterest and Instagram inspiration. There are so many wedding decisions and so much content out there for couples to be inspired by. You might even feel a little overwhelmed! So here’s a few notes on things we’ve noticed for 2019 that seem to be trending for all the newly engaged brides and grooms out there! We’ve pulled information from Pinterest, Instagram and numerous blogs to see what everyone is talking about for the 2019 wedding season!
Bridal Dresses / Gowns
One of the most important parts of the wedding day for a bride, is finding that perfect gown! Whether your day is more informal or quite traditional, there’s a lot to consider. Your personal style, what’s trending as well as your budget. There’s a lot going on out there in terms of styles so it can be difficult to know what’s on trend right off the bat.
The biggest trend this year of course follows in the footsteps of the Royals, with Meghan Markle. When Kate Middleton and Prince William were married, the following year thousands of brides were looking for dresses that incorporated her timeless style. This year, simplicity is trending. When you are shopping for your gown, you will notice crisp lines and satin, boat necks and off the shoulder styles with a streamlined silhouette.
Other trends that are quite popular are the bohemian or elegant – meets – bohemian. Beautiful detailing, particularly on the backs and shoulders, cap sleeves and long sleeves are all ways to bring the element of sophistication while still having that boho or chic look. The strapless styles are making way for more traditional gowns – which we absolutely love!
Decor
Though bright colours have been expected to make a return, we are still seeing a lot of interest in a more traditional, clean and timeless approach. A lot of white, green and soft pastels for spring and summer with pops of deep burgundy and red in the fall. Emerald is a big trend that we have spotted in many fall and winter weddings so far.
Flowers
As above, we are still seeing more of a muted palette for early season weddings, and deeper, richer hues for mid summer to winter weddings. Layers of flowers creating depth is popular, and greenery is also popular. Large bouquets for the bride that flow are also becoming more popular than the traditional compact bouquets.
We’ve been seeing a lot of greenery at receptions. More garlands and greenery strung along and draped over white or wooden tables. This gives a very elegant and effortless vibe.
Invitation Suites Custom Branding
Invitation suites and custom branded weddings (yes, you can make your own logo!) on signs like menus, invitations, favors and more. Branding is an amazing way to literally put your own personal touch and voice to your wedding day. This year we have seen and expect to see more custom branding on things like wax seals for invitation suites, custom illustrations and artwork and more.
Food – Happy Bellies, Happy Guests!
Food is becoming ever more important as couples focus on their family and friends having an excellent time – which includes having an excellent dining experience. Some couples are going along with the branding trend incorporating their personalities into their menu choices! Recently we captured a beautiful wedding where the couple chose a buffet of small, portable dishes from a variety of food truck cuisine. Everything from mac and cheese to mini sliders and tacos! It was an absolute hit and so fitting for their personalities. Food choices are becoming very creative and personal. Along with food we are seeing more custom drinks and cocktails with significant names that are important to the couple. This all adds up to an unforgettable and fun experience for everyone!
Happy Planning!
