Sarah + Justin’s Wedding at Marriott Downtown Calgary

Being a Calgary wedding photographer means we get to shoot some pretty amazing weddings in downtown Calgary! Read about Sarah and Justin’s story below!

 

How did you meet?

 

One night back in June 2012 we both went to a neighborhood pub for a few drinks. The bar was pretty empty and we ended up hitting it off! We started texting the next day and a few weeks later we had our first date and the rest is history!

 

Engagement story!

 

Justin had always said that he wouldn’t propose away from home because he was scared of losing the ring. In April of 2018 we had gone to Mexico. When we got to the resort we found out that they have a beach BBQ twice a week so Justin made reservations for us to go. We went for a walk afterwards and Justin wanted to take a selfie- which was weird because he doesn’t like taking photos. A couple walked by us around the same time and offered to take a photo. Justin was pretty insistent and kind of rude to them and got them to go on there way. He then got down on one knee and said some things. He then asked “so what do you think?” and I told him that he hadn’t asked me anything yet so then remembered to ask me to marry him and I of course said yes!

 

The Wedding Day!

 

Our theme was industrial chic. Our colors were dusty blue, with greenery and gold. We wanted our décor to be really simple but classy. We really just wanted to have the best time and celebrate with all of our family and friends. We had 132 guests. Our wedding song was To Make You Feel My Love by Garth Brooks. The best man and maid of honor speeches were the highlight of the day. The best man had all of Justin’s friends come up to the front and had made Best Man name tags for all of them. It was so great to have all of his friends with him for that moment.
