Janelle + Alejandro’s Banff Engagement Session
I absolutely love doing wedding and engagement photography in Banff!
From the couple:
Alejandro and I met in January 2016 on eHarmony. Within 5 minutes of activating my account, Alejandro skipped all the “get to know you” questions by sending me an instant message asking if I’d like to meet for dinner on the weekend! We ended up meeting at the local Milestones that weekend, a halfway point between our homes, which were actually 10 minutes apart in Surrey, BC. During that date, we realized a connection point that a year prior, his school friend and my colleague, had passed along Alejandro’s resume to me, as I had been doing Technician recruitment and Alejandro was an apprentice, working in the same industry as I. I hadn’t been able to secure him a job at the company, but I did remember what his resume looked like, as he’d applied to almost every technician job we had available and I had been inundated with his resume at the time. We also found out that we had been attending the same church over the past several months! His current company and mine were a 3 minute drive away from each other (and competing companies).
In the early days, we fell in love over tacos at La Mezcaleria, our favourite Mexican restaurant in Vancouver, going salsa dancing and having adventures around the Vancouver area. We loved to go trail running together, go on dates and travel together. Our first year, we traveled to Boston and Mexico, where I met his family and childhood friends. We traveled all around central Mexico with his two cousins, going to hot springs and exploring old cities. In 2017, we traveled to Costa Rica together where we hiked a volcano to the lagoon on top, went on a night jungle tour to find sloths (somewhat dressed inappropriately in flip flops, with scorpions running around!) after exploring a coffee plantation and went ziplining from tree to tree at one of Costa Rica’s cloud forests.
Two years after we met, Alejandro flew to Manitoba to ask for my hand from my father a year prior to proposing. Our relationship blossomed into a deep friendship and love, where we’re always looking to keep the other one laughing. In June 2018 we traveled to Europe for my 30th birthday, where Alejandro popped the question in Venice on a gondola ride at sunset a few days prior to my birthday. We had an amazing trip, spending two weeks in Italy, Greece and France. We explored the black sand beaches and enjoyed the beautiful sunsets of Santorini, ate gelato and sipped cappuccinos on the Amalfi Coast of Italy and enjoyed the evening view of the Eiffel Tower.
(Prior to that) in October 2017, we decided to add an adorable goldendoodle puppy to our family, and we became a family of 3, with the addition of Leo. March 2018, Alejandro and I decided to pack our belongings and move to Calgary to embark on a new adventure. We moved out of our apartments in Surrey (we were living separately), and moved in together in Calgary. We bought a house in November 2018 and in February 2019, we added another goldendoodle to our little family with Toby, making us 4!
On February 10, 2020, we’ll be married in a small ceremony on the side of a cliff near Puerto Vallarta at Le Kliff (restaurant). We’ll be spending the week with our closest friends and family at the Hyatt Ziva, outside of Puerto Vallarta.
