Ideas to ask your friends to be bridesmaids

Asking your friends to be bridesmaids is an important part of wedding planning. As Calgary wedding photographers, we’ve seen so many creative ideas over the years.

It’s a way to show your closest friends how much you appreciate them and how much you value their friendship. Whether you’re having a small intimate wedding or a large celebration, here are some creative ideas for how to ask your friends to be bridesmaids.

1. Personalize It

Make your bridesmaids feel special by asking them in a personalized way. Think about the things that make your relationship with each friend unique and use that to craft a creative and meaningful way to ask them. For example, if you and your best friend love to watch movies together, you could put together a movie night at home and ask her during the movie. Or if you and another friend are always having coffee dates, you could ask her over coffee.

2. Send Them a Gift

Send your bridesmaids a special gift to let them know they’ve been chosen. It could be something small like a necklace, a piece of jewelry, or a personalized item. You could also opt for a more personalized gift, like a scrapbook filled with memories of your time together, or a bottle of wine and cheese. Whatever you choose, it will be a thoughtful reminder of your friendship.

3. Plan a Special Day

Plan a special day out with all of your bridesmaids and surprise them with the news. This could be a day at the beach, a spa day, or a trip to an amusement park. Whatever you choose, it’ll be a fun and memorable way to ask them.

4. Get Crafty

If you’re feeling creative, try making something for your bridesmaids to let them know they’ve been chosen. You could make a scrapbook with photos of your time together, or a personalized card. You could also make a box filled with all of their favourite things, like a candle, a bottle of wine, and a card.

5. Have a Bridesmaids Party

Throw a party for your bridesmaids! Make it a night to remember with music, food, and drinks. You could even use the party as an opportunity to ask them to be in your wedding. Have a speech prepared and let them know how much you appreciate them and how honoured you would be if they accepted your invitation.

6. Send Them a Video

Send your bridesmaids a video to let them know they’ve been chosen for your wedding. You could record yourself asking them, or you could put together a montage of all your favorite moments together. It’s a creative and special way to ask them, and they’ll be sure to appreciate the effort you put into it.

7. Ask Them in Person

Sometimes the most meaningful thing you can do is ask someone in person. This is especially true when it comes to asking your closest friends to be bridesmaids. Take them out for lunch or dinner and let them know how much they mean to you and how honored you would be if they accepted. Asking your friends to be bridesmaids is an important part of wedding planning.

Whether you choose to ask them in person, with a gift, or with a creative idea, your bridesmaids will definitely appreciate the thought and effort you put into it.
