It seems like the 2019 Wedding Season just started and oh so quickly it was over! Planning is in full swing for the 2020 Wedding season and I’ve rounded up some of our favourite predicted trends for 2020! Read below to fill your inspiration needs!
Laid Back Weddings
While we still see a lot of formal weddings with traditional components, we are getting more and more inquiries for elopements, intimate weddings and out of the box ideas which is amazing! Couples are focusing on their wedding day being relaxed and as a way to have a great, fun day with their friends while focusing less about more of the “traditional” components.
Candid and Documentary Style Photography
Posing seems to be going away making way for a very relaxed, candid and natural approach which really captures who you are!
Less Second Shooters & More Videography
We see less importance on having as many photographers as possible to “capture every moment” of the day. (In fact, in our 12 years we’ve only had second shooters where it’s impossible to get both the bride and groom getting ready at the same time due to distance and in 300+ guest count weddings!) This is a wonderful cost savings and ensures your guests are able to focus on the moment and not be inundated with extra people popping up – not to mention flash! We do see a surge in videography bookings as couples are looking to remember their day both with still photos – but also with video as it brings a certain component that photography cannot.
First Look Photos
First looks are one of my favourite aspects of a wedding day. Although seeing each other at the altar for the first time is equally amazing, we do see more couples opting for a first look as it tends to heighten the level of intimacy on the day all the while reducing the nerves that come along with it!
Unplugged Ceremonies
We saw almost all of our 2019 couples opt for unplugged ceremonies. However, many guests did not seem to take note and put their iphones away! At the end of the day a guest must ask themselves what the couple really wants rather than thinking about their instagram stories. 😉
Albums
Albums and prints are taking over! Couples are busy in this fast paced life and we see a huge surge in couples opting to have albums made for them. The quality and beauty of a timeless piece on your coffee table or bookcase is something that many couples opted for in 2019.
Day-After Photos or Pre-Wedding Sessions
Wedding days are super intense and many of our couples are either busy before the wedding with activities, or from out of town and cannot make it for an engagement session. We’ve had several couples lately opt for a pre-wedding session (kind of like an engagement session but in your wedding clothes, like an extended first look). The pre-wedding session is ALL about the two of you so it can offer you extra time on your wedding day and heighten the emotional component and intimacy you feel.
Remember the above are simply trends and things we’ve noticed this past year. Your wedding is unique to you as a couple so whatever you do, make sure it’s what you feel comfortable with and is a reflection of who you both are!
