Danielle and Daniel Calgary Engagement Photographer
How they met:
Daniel and Danielle met in May of 2015. They were both working at the Golf course. Danielle worked in food and beverage while Daniel worked in the pro shop. For the first couple of weeks, they really played the game of who could play harder to get! Finally, Daniel made the first move by asking if Danielle wanted to meet him at a local country event that weekend with some of their friends later that evening. About 5 minutes after this encounter when Daniel had walked back downstairs at the golf course, Danielle got a facebook message from him asking for her number. For a few weeks after this, they would flirt back and forth. Daniel started wandering upstairs “looking for food” more often than usual on the days Danielle was also working. Daniel then finally asked Danielle for dinner for her birthday in July. This is when they started hanging out more and becoming more serious. Daniel was going back to school in Edmonton in September while Danielle had another year in Grande Prairie. Before he left for Edmonton, he asked Danielle to officially be his girlfriend on August 17, 2015. By October 2015 (3 months later), Danielle already knew she was dating her future husband.
Their Love Story:
The first year of Danielle and Daniel’s relationship was long-distance, he was in Edmonton doing his second year at the University of Alberta for kinesiology and education degrees. Danielle was still in Grande Prairie finishing the second year of her accounting diploma. In the first year, there was a lot of travel back and forth from Grande Prairie to Edmonton. They would try to see each other every second weekend. While the long-distance was very daunting and seemed like it would never end, Danielle found out in January of 2016 that she would be moving to Edmonton later that year to attend MacEwan University for a Bachelor of Commerce Degree with a major in accounting. This made the long-distance more bearable knowing that there was an end in sight.
The Proposal:
They decided to go to Banff for a ski trip for their 6th Valentine’s weekend together, on this trip they stayed at the same hotel they stayed at the very first time they traveled to Banff together. On the first day of skiing, Danielle and Daniel went to Lake Louise, which neither had ever skied before. It was around noon that Daniel suggested taking the ski lift to the very top of the mountain for a picture with a beautiful background. After taking the lift, they saw there was a ridge that would be perfect for pictures as you could see mountains in every direction. Once up there, they were getting their picture taken, when Daniel got down on one knee and proposed! Danielle’s first words were “Is this a joke?” Needless to say, it was very a very unexpected and amazing surprise!
That evening while getting ready for dinner, the hotel began to shake and Daniel joked that it was an earthquake. Only to find out later that night, It really had been an earthquake! It is a day that will never be forgotten.
Danielle and Daniel are getting married on July 30, 2022, in Calgary, Alberta in front of their closest friends and family. They cannot wait to finally be husband and wife after 6 years of dating.
