Fairmont Banff Springs Terrace Wedding

Carlie and Brandon are such an amazing couple. I had a wonderful time getting to know them and shooting their engagement session. Their wedding at the Fairmont Banff Springs was an absolute dream. As Calgary wedding photographers we love to shoot weddings in Banff whenever we can!The rain was just a sprinkle of good luck and the rest of the day gave way to absolutely gorgeous weather. It was truly magical getting to capture all of the emotional moments. A few words below from Carlie about their wedding:

 

When we started planning the wedding we were both on the same page in that we really just wanted the day to have a nice flow to it and for everyone to have so much fun! Brandon’s mom’s favourite colour was purple so we definitely knew that we wanted to incorporate it. We decided on hints of mauve/lilac for the guys ties, the stationary, and my bouquet.  I love white so we did ton of that and added a few splashes of champagne and gold as well.

 

Honestly from the rehearsal dinner on Thursday night, where we rented out the bowling alley at the hotel and then went out dancing with everyone in town, to running around with a trolley at the end of the night Saturday to round up all the flowers that were left behind (not necessary but I couldn’t leave them) we had an absolutely amazing time and it couldn’t have been more perfect!

 

But I will agree with Brandon that these were definitely top moments:

 

The first look– Seeing each other for the first time that day was pretty emotional. All of the time and effort that we put into this was completely worth it!! It was also really nice to have a moment alone before everything started.

 

Saying our own wedding vows was also a really special moment. Having to put into words why I love this man and wanted to marry him was a surprisingly cathartic exercise. Being able to share this with not only each other but our friends and family made the ceremony a little more personal and meaningful to us.

 

The first dance – We had picked Van Morrison’s “Crazy Love” for our first dance.  A couple days before we decided to practice some “moves” in our living room. We decided we had a solid minute of dancing skills in us but forgot to ask people to come join… so that was not well thought out.  We did however manage to “freestyle” through the full 2 minutes and 33 seconds and thoroughly enjoyed it.
