Sheraton Eau Claire Wedding
Breanne and Kyle are so lovely! Their stunning wedding was held at the Knox United Church and the Sheraton Eau Claire in downtown Calgary. I really enjoyed getting to know them both and feel so honoured to have been their wedding photographer. From the laughs shared at their engagement photography session (where I made them get in freezing cold water!) to the texts planning and chatting – to braving the rain on their wedding day- these two were so wonderful! I am so excited to share their wedding images with you and I can’t wait to see what the future has in store for them!
Here’s a little about their love story and wedding day below!
How they met:
Kyle and I first met through mutual friends at a birthday party. Kyle got my number and after 2 weeks of Kyle’s persistence I finally agreed to go on a first date. I was in Grade 12 and Kyle had just graduated the year before. We hit it off right away! On February 14th, 2012 we made it official and have been together ever since.
Engagement Story:
In June 2016, we booked a last minute vacation to Mexico. It was our first vacation together, and Kyle’s first tropical vacation. On June 25th, our last day, we had booked a fancy dinner at the resort. As we were sitting by the pool, Kyle insisted we take photos on the dock in our formal wear. At this point I knew something was up, Kyle hates pictures. As we were heading downstairs to go to dinner, Kyle “forgot” the dinner tickets. Kyle went back to the room and it seemed to take a long time for him to find them. Turns out he had holes in all his pockets and couldn’t figure out where to put the ring!
We took a shuttle to the beach. When we got to the beach I saw the dock that he wanted to take pictures on. It was beautiful, decorated with candles along the sides, flower petals, music playing, and a waiter setting up the table. It was so romantic and I got suspicious that Kyle might propose. At that moment Kyle says “oh crap, looks like someone booked one of those romantic dinners. Let’s keep walking.” At first I thought he was kidding, but turns out we actually did have to go to a different dock! When we got there, there happened to be a lady with her children. Kyle gave her my phone and asked if she could take our picture at the end of the dock. We walked to the end of the dock and just when the lady was about to take the picture Kyle got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. I of course said YES!! The Wedding Day:
Hands down our top moment was the walk down the aisle. It was the most surreal moment we had ever experienced. Kyle’s facial expression when the doors opened for Breanne was priceless; he was trying so hard to hold it together. And Breanne’s emotional walk down the aisle had almost everyone in tears.
Another favorite moment from our wedding was how insane our dance party was at the end of the night. All of our guests were on the dance floor at this time and the room was just filled with energy. The bridesmaids and Breanne’s dad dancing on the head table was seriously the funniest moment of our entire wedding!
Our wedding song was ‘It’s Your Love’ by Tim McGraw and Faith Hill. Tim McGraw is our favorite artist, we have seen him in concert 3 times. We both have such a strong emotional connection to this song and consider it ‘our song’. So this was an obvious choice for our first dance.
Favorite Details:
Breanne – my favorite details for the wedding were all the custom stationary (menu’s, invitations, kissing cards, programs, seating chart, signs) that my cousin Jeff had made. He took all my Pinterest ideas, our theme and colors to create something that was truly a one of a kind. He had put so much time and effort into all of this and it was so special to me! It truly made our wedding vision come to life.
Kyle – My favorite detail of the wedding had to be my beautiful bride’s wedding dress. The way the dress hugged her body and flowed as she walked down the isle towards me will forever be engraved in my mind. The way the off white and gold color in her dress extenuated her gorgeous blonde curls, had me at a loss for words. The pure adrenaline I felt when watching my true love walk towards me, made my emotions truly hard to contain.
We are going to Disney World for our honeymoon, followed by a week long cruise to the Caribbean!
