Ashley and Andrew’s Calgary Wedding
How did you meet?:
Engagement story:
The Wedding Day:
Our wedding day… I woke up that morning and looked outside and saw a dreary sky with a bit of rain. We thought that we might encounter rain on our wedding day so we made alternate arrangements for our ceremony just in case as it was supposed to be outside. As the day went on, the clouds started to clear and the sun came through. This was the perfect start to our amazing day!
ASHLEY: When I walked down the aisle and saw Andrew, I have never felt more happy. I honestly don’t remember seeing anyone else during the ceremony other than my dad who walked me down the aisle, Andrew, and our officiant Tamara. It was as if the rest of the world just faded away. Words really can’t describe the feeling of marrying your best friend.
ANDREW: Today was the day. The day I got to marry my best friend and the one I want to spend the rest of my life with. The moment I got to see Ashley walking down the aisle, I was speechless. Nothing could have prepared me for that amazing moment. It is one I will truly remember forever.
The words “The Best Day Ever” really ring true. Our wedding day really was the best day ever. All of our family and our closest friends together in one room to watch us become husband and wife is pretty amazing, what more could we ask for?! We ate delicious food, drank some drinks, mingled, and danced the night away. We made so many memories that we will cherish for the rest of our lives.
Our wedding colours were grey and teal with gold accents, not your typical fall wedding colours but all colours that have meaning and significance to us. We had about 95 guests which was perfect for us, not too big and not too small.
Our first dance song was “Bonfire Heart” by James Blunt. This is a song that has been a part of our relationship from the very start. We used to sit outside on a blanket and listen to music, look at the stars, and chat for hours. This is where we first heard this song. This song also made it’s appearance when we first talked about the fact that we both knew that we would marry each other so it wasn’t a question in either of our minds that it would be the song we first danced to as Mr. and Mrs.
One of our favourite details of our wedding was our wedding cake and our desserts. My sister (and bridesmaid) made our wedding cake as well as every single dessert that we had at our wedding. For us, that was pretty special. Not only was it delicious, but it was absolutely beautiful and we couldn’t have been more honoured to have it displayed at our wedding. It was also the very first wedding cake she has ever made!
We are leaving soon for our honeymoon in Bali! We both have never been and we are really excited to explore the culture and eat lots of amazing food.
