Industrial Modern Wedding at The Commons
Courtney and Troy’s wedding at the Commons in Calgary was nothing short of spectacular. From the moment I met Courtney and Troy, I couldn’t wait to be a part of their day. Courtney is by all accounts a fantastic teacher, and it was so lovely to be able to share stories about our teaching experiences. Troy has such an inviting personality and is almost always smiling and laughing. Plus, he’s a super Spiderman nerd – how cool is that!? These two are seriously the coolest cats. Their wedding was truly unique and every single detail was thought out. The venue is intimate and the perfect blend of modern and industrial – which was made incredibly inviting by their stunning flower wall and decor choices.
I hope you love this sneak peek into their day. For a little bit about their love story and wedding day, read below from Courtney.
How did you meet?:
We met while we were dancing with friends. Troy’s brother and I had mutual friends and they introduced us. We danced all night and had an instant attraction. When I met Troy, I felt like something had slammed against my chest. I knew he would change my world
Engagement story:
Troy and I had been dating for about 7 years before we got engaged. We had just bought our first house and I wanted our Christmas to be perfect. Troy secretly bought my ring and had it placed in 7 boxes, ranging from largest to smallest. Each box represented a major milestone we had faced those years together. The last box was the ring and he proposed on Christmas morning!
The Wedding:
I found a picture on Pinterest that completely solidified our decision for white flowers with pops of fuchsia. This picture alone trickled down to the rest of our planning choices and decisions!
We had 75 guests and 1 excited toddler!
The best moment for me was when Troy turned around and saw me at the end of the aisle. The moment was so emotionally charged and I felt like I was in a complete blur. Troy’s favourite moment was seeing me come down the aisle. He felt literally winded. Like he just got punched in the stomach!
Our first dance song was Life Support by Sam Smith.
Our favourite detail was the venue itself. The exposed brick and hanging crystal chandeliers added such a soft elegance to space! I loved the lighting in the room as well! The copper arch with the beautiful flowers was also a highlight. Do we have to pick just one?! Troy’s favourite detail was the black-and-white Spider-Man movie that played during our dinner service!
After the Wedding!:
Maui for a week!
