Romantic Heritage Park Wedding
I love being a Calgary wedding photographer because it means photographing beautiful weddings at Heritage park! Amy and Steven are absolutely stellar. They not only put up with frigid temperatures on their wedding, but laughed through the day! It’s so evident how much they love each other and I am so happy I was chosen to capture their day. From the couple:
We wanted our wedding to be fun! It was very important to both of us to be able to transition right from the ceremony into the party! Heritage Park met all our criteria, and we settled on the Wainwright Hotel as our venue. For a mid-October wedding we knew the weather would be a gamble- we had really hoped for a beautiful day so we could have an outdoor ceremony (our first choice), but unfortunately the Calgary weather did not cooperate and we moved it all inside. We didn’t realize that the indoor option (upstairs in the Wainwright Hotel) didn’t have room to seat all our guests, so we ended up with a little standing room at the back for some of our 146 guests!
We did our photos before the ceremony, mostly in the icy cold winds blowing off the reservoir. I (Amy) literally had hot packs stuffed in my dress to keep warm! It will be a miracle if you can’t see teeth chattering in some of the pictures!
Our 5 flower girls and one ring bearer (children of our bridal party), were amazingly well behaved! All of them walked down the aisle without incident, and managed to sit at a table by themselves for dinner too. My mom made them all little goody bags to keep them entertained, and they had a great time!
Immediately after the ceremony we had Prosecco already poured and the bar opened. After cocktails was a seated dinner, with speeches spread throughout. Our MC’s Melissa and Mariko were AMAZING and kept us on schedule, and everyone laughing! After dinner we had a dance as well as a photobooth opened, which kept people who weren’t dancing entertained!
