2017 Wedding Dress Trends
It’s hard to believe that 2016 is already nearly at a close and a new wedding season is about to begin! We’ve had an amazing year and it’s finally a chance for us to sit back and reflect. In addition to the wedding season closing, another amazing bridal fashion week has come to an end. For many brides to be it’s time to sit down and start seriously planning what they will be wearing for their wedding day! The fashion world is unique in the sense that it is typically quite artistic and over the top with designs and inspiration. This can seem a little unapproachable or overwhelming. Instead, many brides take aspects of dresses or designs merely for inspiration purposes.
Streaming sleeves, feathers, organza, deep v necklines, capes and unique embellishments were the most interesting features at this year’s bridal fashion week. As a Calgary wedding photographer, I have the great fortune of meeting many fashion forward brides who always have great taste and are a step ahead of the curve.
For your viewing and planning pleasure, I have gone ahead and created this list of some of the most unique and beautiful gowns I have seen lately that will hopefully guide and inspire you in your planning process. I’ve included as much detail as possible about the gowns. Feel free to pin those that inspire you most to your Pinterest board, or take them into your wedding dress shop to see if they have the gown or a similar option.
Remember, a dress looks different on every body shape. Before you become too attached to a particular gown, know that it will look different on everyone. Don’t be afraid to step outside of your comfort zone and try something that you typically would never choose for yourself. You might just be pleasantly surprised with the gown of your dreams!

This stunning gown is by one of our favorite designers, Pronovias. The Plisa gown features a beautiful body skimming silhouette with gorgeous embroidered floral detailing in the back featured on the image below.

The gorgeous Madison gown from designer Sarah Seven is so dreamy! The layers and layers of organza and chiffon are buttery soft and light. This creates depth and romance that makes my heart melt!

This stunning gown is the Alma from designer from designer Watters. I absolutely adore the mesh lace style. It’s slightly unconventional and textured which really makes it pop. There’s also an option for loose cap sleeves!

This design is from Allure Bridal (Style 9321). It’s absolutely whimsical and dreamy! The stunning embroidered detail design and flowing organza adds an ethereal, princess feel. The sleeves are so on trend.

This probably has to be my ultimate, favorite gown this year! Boho is back and can be either dressed up or down like in this gorgeous Zeppelin gown from couture designer Rue De Seine. The gorgeous beaded, embellished sleeved top can be removed to reveal a gorgeous simple sheath dress below.

This beautiful, flowing and body skimming dress is by Grace Loves Lace. Check out the photo below to see the stunning detail work. Perfect for a down to earth bride looking for a stunning yet flowing look that highlights all of your best features!
