Modern Calgary Garden Party Wedding
Recently, I had the pleasure of capturing Erin and Jon’s Modern Garden Party themed wedding at the beautiful Elbow Valley residents club. As a wedding photographer, I am used to surprises but when my phone rang one day from Paris, I knew I was in for a real treat!
Erin works in Paris but is originally from Calgary. As we got to chatting on the phone I quickly realized that Erin and Jon’s wedding featuring a modern, garden party theme was right up my alley. Like Erin and Jon, my husband and I dated long distance for some time, so I certainly understand the difficulties couples are faced with in a long distance relationship. To add to that, planning a wedding in it’s entirety from France and having it turn out perfectly is an achievement in itself! Jon visits Erin frequently, and they make wonderful use of their time together. It would seem that every day on Facebook there is a new photo of their beautiful travels together.
Erin and Jon are the kind of couple that have a quiet, sweet love. It is so clear going through their photos that he quite literally gravitates towards her. My job as a photographer was easy, as all I had to do was sit back and capture these love birds in the moment!
The ceremony took place in Erin’s parents backyard in the stunning community of Elbow Valley. Her parents worked tirelessly to make the garden beautiful, and you could tell this was quite meaningful to Erin and Jon. The reception at the Elbow Valley Resident’s Club was tented and featured spectacular decor provided by Special Events Rentals and delicious catering and coordinating from Devour Catering. The food was to die for and their staff was absolutely amazing! Additional vintage details like beautiful couches and trunks were provided by the fabulous Orange Trunk Vintage Styling + Rentals. Beautiful florals filled the space and were highlighted by gorgeous table runners, all provided by Wild About Flowers. Jon and his groomsmen were stylish in Harry Rosen, while Erin wore a designer gown from a French Atelier. To ensure the day went as smoothly as possible, Anna from Beso Event Design coordinated the entire day from start to finish.
In all, this was an absolutely stunning wedding and I am so thrilled that I had the honor of being the wedding photographer for Erin and Jon’s special day! May you both have many years of happiness, laughter and love together.
