Bohemian Desert Elopement

As a Calgary Wedding Photographer, it’s not often that I get to shoot in places that are a little different from the mountains. Being that I have some friends in the beautiful desert of Arizona and given that we spend time there in the winter, I am blessed to have a little fun and be creative – thinking outside of the box once an a while! This is a styled desert session but boy, I’ve received so many comments that these two have so much chemistry you can’t even tell! To be honest with you, I absolutely love shooting weddings that are large, ornate and complex – but I equally love (and sometimes crave) a smaller wedding like an elopement. I feel the pace of the day is often so much more relaxing not only for me but for the couple too! That doesn’t mean that we don’t shoot as long as we would for a traditional wedding day – but without all of the other events and added timing, we tend to have a really great time!

I feel like this is so important, as even for a traditional wedding day, having more time for your wedding formals together means a more beautiful outcome artistically. Why is this so? When you have that extra time and aren’t rushing from place to place you are able to truly be in the moment and enjoy yourself and that really really affects how you look in your photos! Couples are able to relax and be themselves much more easily and it makes the session just such an easy breezy experience.
