Autumn Sunset Engagement
We absolutely love being Calgary wedding and engagement photographers. Nic and Jen, these two are such a blast! Fellow Saskies…we really ‘get’ each other. I mean we all know it’s not a hoodie, it’s a bunnyhug! I can’t wait for their wedding day, I know it’s going to be so beautiful.. and don’t worry guys I won’t show up with a watermelon on my head!
Read below about their love story and big plans for their beautiful wedding day!
How we met!
We both have mutual friends in Martensville, SK, but our paths had never really crossed. Our lives had taken us in different directions. Nic was finishing engineering degree while I was feeding my travel bug that was taking me to the opposite side of the world. Like any young traveler I came home, with an empty bank account, with the full intention of jumping on the next cheapest flight out of the country. Then Nic happened!
Our mutual friends brought us to the same local bar one summer night. I must have made a lasting impression on Nic because a few days later I received a message. I was coming back from a Saskatchewan Roughriders game, wearing a bunnyhug (hehe), and I assume Nic was out with his buddies sippin’ on pilsners. We chatted about our summer, made plans and have been inseparable ever since!!
Engagement Story:
December 30, 2016! That year Nic decided to plan something special for us and spend New Year’s in Banff with some close friends. This was something I had always dreamed of doing! Unknowingly, Nic has booked us in for a spa day at the Fairmont Banff Springs Resort followed by supper. I was starting to get a little suspicious, but this wasn’t totally uncommon of Nic to plan things like this. We were both getting ready for a romantic night out, and while I was putting on my normal “going out” outfit I was confused why Nic was getting dressed to the nines in his dress pants, shirt and tie. We arrived at this beautiful restaurant that overlooked the town and valley. It wasn’t until after dinner while leaving the restaurant that Nic popped the question! That night consisted of tears of joy followed by a few bottles of champagne!
The next day was celebrated with a night on the town with close friends bringing in the New Year as a newly engaged couple!
Wedding Plans:
If I had to pick one word to describe our wedding it would be ROMANTIC! Since both of our families are from Saskatchewan we wanted to get away from the ‘Land of the Living Skies’ and have wedding set in the breathtaking Rocky Mountains. There is something special about being surrounded with the people we love as we share our commitment of marriage!!
