Chateau Lake Louise Wedding

The Wedding Day:
Chris and I met the first day of college in the dormitory. Chris was friends with the resident assistant on our floor. We were friends for one semester and then started dating in the second semester.
Chris and I had a running joke, that since I thought it was unromantic that we met the first day of school in the dorms, that the actual way we met was in Central Park, in New York, on a fall day when the colors were changing and we ran into each other on a bench and it was very romantic! So Chris planned a trip to New York for us, we stayed near the park, and that morning he told me we were going to walk across the park to go to a jewelry store to look at possible engagement rings. Halfway through the park, he asked if I wanted to take a picture, and a “photography student” offered to take our picture. Then he got down on one knee and popped the question!
Wedding theme and colours:
Our theme was “Berries”. Chris and I call each other “Berry” as a pet name, our friends know us as the “Berries” as a result. We thought it would be an easy, summer theme that would look great. Our Colors were marsala, navy, and gold. Navy and gold were the colors of our undergraduate college, UC Berkeley.
We saw a friend visit Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise on Facebook and thought it looked beautiful. So we booked a quick flight and were blown away by the venue. We both wanted a destination wedding that wouldn’t be too hard on the guests but somewhere beautiful outside. We had mountains and water and it was perfect! Plus getting out of the country was nice and coordinating with English speakers is even better!
Favorite Wedding Moments:
Chris’ favorite moment was seeing me walk down the aisle and our first dance. My favorite moment was listening to Chris’ vows and watching him get choked up (for the first time!). The speeches were incredibly touching as well as the dances with our parents. The slideshow also turned out incredible as well!
My brother played Canon in D as I walked down the isle. We thought it’d be special for my brother to contribute to our wedding this way. It is such a classic and beautiful song that was easy for him to learn and master. Our first dance was to Nan Ren, Nu Ren by Valen Hsu. This is a top 100 song from China in the early 2000s, it’s an incredibly sweet song about finding the one. Chris and I both love it very much and it “clicked” for us right away.
Some of our other favorite moments included: the delicious saskatoon jam from the Saskatoon Farm! (Hope you all got to try it, it was incredibly delicious and fun to have a local taste of Canada as part of the wedding!, The gorgeous cake, and the slo mo photo booth!!!! Everyone had a TON of fun with that.
Chris says his favorite part of the day was me!
Our wedding day was perfect in every way. The weather was gorgeous, sunny but not too warm. The mountains and lake were breathtaking. It was an emotional, heartfelt day filled with joy and love. There were lots of happy tears, laughter, and silly moments. All the details and preparation really came together visually and each of our vendors were fantastic, every one of them went above and beyond our expectations.
Most important of all, it felt intimate enough where we could truly be ourselves and be with the people we loved the most in a beautiful place to celebrate our love. It was important to us that our family and friends know how special they are to us and how they are the reason we were able to find so much happiness. It was truly a magical day, all the guests had a lot of fun, and nothing could have gone better!
