We met once through a mutual friend on a summer evening at an ice cream shop, but didn’t get an opportunity to say much! Four years later he was a customer at my work and after having a lovely chat, he asked me out for coffee. Once again we instantly connected, and it felt like we knew each other for a long time. We became best friends over the next few years as I was in college and he worked in another city.

Azeem took me on a day trip to the mountains and after walking for some time, stopped by a river and spent the afternoon talking and enjoying the scenery.

We got married during COVID, so the day was very intimate and relaxing. We got married in Calgary then drove to the mountains. The closer we got to Lake Louis there were blankets of snow on the trees making it a dreamy backdrop.

My favourite aspect of the day was that it was cozy, intimate and different. I enjoyed having the opportunity to connect with everyone who came, not having pressure to entertain hundreds of people!

Remember to have fun and don’t get caught up in having everything “perfect”. The day is about celebrating your life long commitment to your best friend, so make that the spirit of the day!
