Fall Wedding at Calgary Zoo

Leah and Izaak are such an amazing couple. I had a wonderful time capturing their fall wedding at the Calgary Zoo!! It turns out they were from the same province as me so when we sat down for our consult over a bottle of wine we really hit it off! I instantly felt a connection with them. Being a Calgary Wedding Photographer I’ve had the pleasure of working with many amazing couples over the last decade. I love when I am able to sit with couples and form a friendship and learn about them. By the time their wedding day arrives, they are spending it with someone they know and that makes my job so much easier. Calgary Zoo is such a versatile and lovely venue. There are so many hidden spaces and beautiful locations for couples to take their wedding party and bridal formals. The Enmax Gardens and observatory are both my favourite locations to work in.

Their wedding day began at Top Knot Brides for the ladies and Leah and Izaak’s home for the gents. Photographing the getting ready process is one of the highlights of a wedding day. I love to see the anticipation and excitement and photograph the details. After the ceremony under their stunning chuppah, we had so much fun taking photos outside and wandering the zoo. The colour palette was so perfect for fall. The tonal range in Leah’s bouquet featured toffee roses and neutrals which blended so well with the groomsmen’s navy suits and the bridesmaids burgundy gowns. Their reception was such a beautiful blending of families and some of the best speeches I’ve heard in all my years as a wedding photographer. Their day was seamlessly coordinated by Paperdoll events who ensured no detail was missed. It was an unforgettable day and I hope you enjoy their photographs!
