Intimate Calgary Elopement Nicole Sarah Photography
As Calgary wedding photographers, we get to see a lot of beautiful weddings in the fall! Elopements are my favourite type of wedding day. Couples are truly able to relax and have an amazing time. This in turn creates a wonderful photography experience. I had such a lovely time with Mavis and Bryan and wish them all the best! I hope you enjoy this sneak peek into their wedding day.
How did you meet?
We met at this little online/virtual bar called eHarmony. On our second date, we went to see the musical – Young Frankenstein – and realized we both love to laugh and be goofy.
Engagement story:
As a Covid-safe activity, we planned a camping trip in Kananaskis during early fall last year. On Oct 1, 2020, we were on our way to the campground, Bryan suggested we stop by Fitzsimmons Creek for a break and just as I was ready to head back to our car to continue on, Bryan said, “hey Mav, will you marry me?” Of course, I said yes!
The Wedding Day:
Because we got engaged during Covid and under all of the uncertainties, we figured we could be more flexible if we plan for a smaller intimate event to share with our immediate families of 15. We also wanted to keep the planning process simple and only focus on the most important aspects of the day: getting great photos to commemorate our special day (thanks Nicole!) and celebrating with those who will be supporting us through our marriage. We met Nicole before the wedding ceremony for our couples photos at Fish Creek Provincial Park; weather in the prairies can be unpredictable in mid-October, but luckily we had a beautiful sunny fall day with some occasional breezes. We managed to carefully walk through the mud down to the creekside for some formal portraits, without falling in, so that was definitely a win. We both love nature, so we incorporated organic colours in the ceremony such as pairing lush greeneries with a rich warm wood arch and classic crisp white chairs. Most importantly, we got to share our special day with those that are closest and dearest to us; the day could not have been more perfect.
