Michelle + Kirk Bow Valley Ranche
How They Met:
When we met Kirk didn’t go to the same high school as me but luckily I had known his best friend for a while. So when Kirk and I finally met on November 5th 2010, we kind of latched on to each other right away – always hanging out, meeting up, me sneaking off to be with him, always writing letters to each other. It was amazing and crazy and fast – and I moved in with him after two months, and we’ve been together ever since.
Engagement story:
It was our fifth year anniversary, Kirk took me to Hawaii. The night of our anniversary we were walking around on the beach in the dark and then sat down on a stone ledge. Kirk asked me then “so..five years…do you want another five?” It was then I knew what was going on and I just hugged him didn’t let him finish what he was saying. When I finally let him go he asked me if I would marry him!
The Wedding day:
We had our ceremony outside at 2:30pm in At the Hulls Wood amphitheater – a very peaceful and beautiful place! The day was sunny and warm (we were lucky the big hailstorm waited a few hours until everyone was inside for dinner). I had chosen yellow, white and green as the wedding colors. Those colours feel happy and like your in nature. We had a small wedding with only 32 of our closest friends and family. I ran (speed walked?) Down the aisle to Kirk and once I was up there with him I couldn’t stop smiling at him – it was very hard to stay focused and get my words right. We wrote our vows in a letter to each other and didn’t read them, instead we put them into a box that Kirk made and locked it to open in 7 years as that way we will find the vows even more special.
We had a “first dance”, neither of us knew how to dance but having one of our songs (I’ll follow you down by Shinedown ) played to the two of us was awesome and we definitely had fun even though we didn’t know what we were doing.
All the decorating was put up and done by our family and friends who helped in the morning of the wedding to get it done. It was 1000 times better and more beautiful than what I even imagined!
We left two days later for our honeymoon. We went to Mexico for the first time and stayed at an all inclusive resort “Valentin Imperial Maya” in Cancun for one week.
