Secret Garden Wedding Coutts Centre
How They Met
We initially met at a church when we were both in high school. We were never very close and we were just facebook ‘friends’. Soon after that, Taesuk moved from Calgary to Edmonton. One day, Yoon visited Edmonton with a mutual friend of ours, and spent three full days just hanging out. That’s when the love began.
The Engagement Story
We got engaged on our trip to Jeju island in Korea. Taesuk had the engagement ring in his back pocket waiting for the right moment to pop the question. He started recording a video before the proposal while pretending to pose for a picture using a tripod. Suddenly, he kneeled on one knee and asked Yoon to be his wife. Every moment of the proposal was captured on the video!
The Wedding Day
We originally planned an oceanfront wedding in Hawaii (but had to cancel it due to COVID-19) so our dress and suit were something more appropriate for an outdoor wedding. When we looked at photos of Coutts Centre, we immediately thought this is where we should get married! We fell in love with their beautiful gardens and well-kept trees for the wedding aisle.
Our wedding theme was “a vibrant secret garden” with hues of corals, a touch of white for contrast, blended with pinks and orange tones. We thought those colours would look beautiful with all the greenery on the site. Our awesome florist, Stephanie, sliced and dried all the fruits (grapefruits and oranges) for the table decorations and I think it was perfect for our summer wedding.
We had 56 guests in total and I think Coutts Centre was a perfect venue for small-medium size weddings. We chose one of Yoon’s favourite songs for our exit song which is “Love Never Felt So Good” by Michael Jackson!
Our favourite moment was the bride’s entrance! The wedding aisle at Coutts Centre was just so beautiful!
