Meagon + Kevin’s Private Estate Wedding Edmonton
Meagon and Kevin were absolutely amazing! I had so much fun getting to know them and shooting their wedding. They are the type of couple that instantly makes you feel a part of their circle. When I arrived at Kevin’s family farm his mom immediately told me to come inside and eat something. Once I was inside, everyone kept trying to feed me and give me mimosas. (Now that’s my kind of morning!) It really made me feel so welcome and made me miss my husband’s family farm and Saskatchewan. Everything is about family and friends, the truly important things in life. Everyone is always so kind and giving. It’s these types of weddings that truly make me smile from ear to ear and remind me why I do this. They adapted their wedding to Covid in such a wonderful way!
How did you meet?:
Kevin and I met at a work function a couple of years ago that was hosted by a mutual employer at the time. We had first shaken hands as we were introduced to one another before sitting down to have dinner with our fellow colleagues. This initial meeting spiraled into a torrid secret love affair that ended in us both being fired. Throughout the summer, we both began to feel a strong attraction, and ended up dating shortly after.
Engagement story:
We were engaged in the middle of October in 2018. It was during the middle of harvest on a rainy Friday afternoon when Kevin had called me at work to see if I had plans for the evening. I hadn’t seen him in a couple of days (as it was during harvest) and he had suggested we have a date night. We had a lovely night out on the town; having gone out for a nice dinner and a movie (which is our regular, low key date night that we love. -so, I didn’t suspect a thing!). Once we got back to the farm, I had noticed that our house had a bit more sparkle and had been romanticized. Kevin proposed to me that night, by picking me up in his arms and sitting me on our bed. He had promised his life to loving me that night.
The Wedding Day:
We did not really settle on a theme per say for our wedding. We went with decor that was simple, bright and elegant. Our colors were Navy, Gold and Sand. We chose our décor and colors based on our personal tastes, and what we thought would good with the buildings and trees on the farm.
We had a grand total of 16 guests including ourselves. Due to current circumstances surrounding COVID 19, we decided in the best interest and protection of our guests we would have immediate family only. Our wedding truly could not have been more intimate….it was perfect.
The top moment for myself (Meagon) was seeing Kevin waiting for me under the arch where our ceremony was to be taking place. We made direct eye contact as I walked down the aisle with my father. All that mattered in that moment was that his eyes saw mine and mine his; it was a great feeling… There are too many special intimate moments from the day to even begin somewhere. The entire day was filled with perfect moments with each of our family members whom we love so much. Kevin’s favorite part of the day was by far the first look. It was a spectacular moment that brought home the reality of the situation, as if everything up until that moment was under a fog, and everything after was shining as bright and brilliant as Meagon herself.
It was not so much the details of the day that were captivating but the moments that seem to slow down. The day along with the details were perfect. Perhaps I have rose colored glasses on when I think back on our special day, but I could not have pictured it more beautiful.
We had gone on our honeymoon the Monday following our wedding. Kevin and I made our way down to Canmore where we did lots of hiking, kayaking and an exuberant amount of good food eating and wine drinking. It was nice to go somewhere right after to relax and soak up what is now the start to our new lives together. Kevin and I do plan to do some traveling in the new year to the UK and Europe; this will all be tentative on current happenings with the COVID 19.
