Intimate Rouge Restaurant Wedding
Kimberly + Stephen’s wedding was captured by our talented associate, Richelle. Their wedding was held at Rouge Restaurant on Canada Day and was an absolute dream!

From Kimberly:
We had met four years ago on St. Patrick’s Day at Jamesons Irish pub downtown in Calgary. Stephen had just arrived from Ireland a week ago and was celebrating at Jamesons with friends from his hostel. My friends and I were enjoying the festivities when I had spotted Stephen from across the bar and casually told my friend that I thought he was kinda cute. Next thing I knew, my friend ran across the bar and grabbed him by the hand and brought him over to say hello. Out of embarrassment, I apologized on behalf of my friend, but Stephen was happy to chat with me and it was history from there.
Engagement story: Stephen had methodically placed my custom made engagement ring into a Kinder Surprise chocolate egg! On February 23, 2017, we went out to the grocery store to buy ingredients for a cheesecake. Once we had returned home, Stephen surprised me with a Kinder Surprise Egg. I opened the egg and found the ring in the yellow toy plastic container and was very confused at first. So in our living room Stephen nervously went down on his knee and asked me to marry him!
We wanted to keep things simple, no bridesmaids, no groomsman, no best man, no maid of honour, just us. It was very important to us to have a very intimate, sweet, simple and relaxed wedding. Though there was no real intention of having a particular theme, the wedding evolved to have a romantic theme surrounded by nature. We had 55 guests which consisted of just close friends and family. Our wedding song was “How Deep Is Your Love by The Bee Gees.” Our favourite details were our ceremony, which due to weather conditions had to be set inside under the marquee under hanging fairy lights. Despite the sudden rain storm, we were happy to just go ahead with our day and exchange our vows in front of our friends and family! The highlights of the wedding would have to be our ring warming ceremony, Stephen saying his marriage vows in Irish, the dishes prepared by Rouge, acoustic and curated music played by our dear friend Mercy and overall the warm loving atmosphere that took place with our close friends and family. The honeymoon will take place in South East Africa where we will tour various places and take part in exciting activities such as a safari and white water rafting.
