Hillside Winter Engagement
We love Calgary fall and winter engagement photography. Engagement sessions in Calgary are so fun because our landscape is beautiful and diverse. Danielle and Mike are such a sweet couple. They are so laid back and were eager to brave the cold and even display a little PDA for you all! I can’t wait to be their wedding photographer this year. Read their love story below!
Tindered Spirits
In January 2016, we were classified as a “Match!” on Tinder, but over the course of our life together, we have come to love and realize just why we make such a great pair.
Our realization of compatibility began on our first date. I planned a casual meet-up with a mutual friend, to ease the awkwardness of a somewhat blind date. In true Danielle-form, I planned the “surprise” Wednesday activity and invited unsuspecting Mike to join. I promised Mike he’d have fun, and guaranteed it was something he’d never tried before. Mike showed up to the dodgy nail salon on time and in true gentleman form, ready to participate in his first (and likely last) pedicure, all in the spirit of making a great first impression. Because all successful relationships are built on compromise, we enjoyed beer and wings afterward, and Mike and I were confident we’d plan infinitely more quirky dates in our future.
Whether hiking or cross-country skiing in the mountains, golfing on a new course, or relaxing on the catio with our furbabies, Judy and Ser Pounce, Mike and I encourage each other to try new things, build on shared interests, and take time to slow down in this crazy, busy world. One Sunday Funday, Mike planned a day hike out at Heart Mountain, and proposed after we shared lunch at the top. Nervous Mike was waiting for the crowd to clear, but it was such a gorgeous, sunny day that the amount of people making their way to the summit only increased as the day went on – needless to say my acceptance was followed by cheering and a round of applause from our audience of strangers.
Taking a wrong turn on the way back down the mountain gave us plenty of time to start planning our wedding, which we hope is as fun and special for our guests as it is for us. We look forward to a wedding that reflects our style – filled with great food and drinks in the laid-back atmosphere of Starbelly (our favourite restaurant), surrounded by 100 of our closest friends and family. We are hoping to share laughter through stories and speeches, and create memories on the dance floor (an open bar will help with that) 🙂
