Stewart Creek Wedding – Rebecca + Jeff
Becky + Jeff are an absolutely amazing couple and I feel so blessed that they chose me to be their Calgary wedding photographer! They are so fun and down to earth. I knew right from their engagement session that we were going to have a total blast on their wedding day. You can tell just by the way they look at each other that the whole world melts away and they are so in love. Their wedding was at the stunning Stewart Creek Golf Club in Canmore. It’s such a beautiful venue with absolutely breathtaking views. I could go on, but here’s their amazing story about how they met and their wedding day in their own words!
How They Met
Our love story started like many in Calgary…at
. We met through mutual friends one night while out on the town. We spent the night getting to know each other over Pimm’s Cups and ended the evening with late night pizza. Jeff wasted no time and messaged me the next day to organize a date. Our first date was spent at Purple Perk over coffee, we spent hours at the coffee shop getting to know one another.
From our first date, we both had busy schedules over the next few months but always made an effort to see each other when we were both in town; whether it was tacos at Anejo, drinks at Milk Tiger or a picnic in the park for Jeff’s birthday, we continued to fall in love with each other.
One day in the Spring, Jeff and I had packed a picnic and my portable hammock and headed to Stanley Park for the afternoon. Jeff was acting a little standoffish and I could tell there was something on his mind. While lounging in the hammock Jeff said “I love you” for the first time, in that moment, I knew Jeff was the one!
We moved in together in the Fall and have continued to fall more in love with one another since.
In March of 2017, we planned a night away at Chateau Lake Louise. On the drive out to the mountains, I could tell, much like when we were in the hammock, that Jeff had something on his mind. Jeff had organized a hike to the tea house prior to us checking into the hotel. It was a perfect day; the sun was shining through the trees and the snow was falling so lightly. When we arrived at the tea house, we were alone and with the sun shining down on us and Jeff proposed!! I couldn’t have asked for a more perfect engagement, and to a more perfect man. We literally ran down the mountain as we were both on such a high and spent the afternoon sipping bubbles and celebrating our next chapter!
The Wedding Day
The best day ever! Having all of our most loved friends and family together to celebrate our love and in such a beautiful setting, it doesn’t get any better! We decided on a rustic elegant wedding that played to our venue. Stewart Creek has a lot of deeper reds and oranges so we worked to balance that with a lot of white and green/sage tones. We loved our wedding at Stewart Creek Golf Club.
We had around 100 guests on our wedding day and it was a great size, small enough that you had the opportunity to catch up with everyone but large enough that it felt like a party! Our favourite moment for both of us was locking eyes and seeing each other for the first time while Becky walked down the aisle. We opted out of a first look as seeing each other for the first time down the aisle was important to us. Stewart creek has a balcony that Becky and her dad had to walk down to get to the ceremony location so it made our favourite moment last a little longer!
Our first dance was to Bow and Arrow by Reuben and The Dark. It’s an extra special song for us as it was our first concert together.
