Calgary Wedding Photographer Danielle + David Spring Engagement
I’m pretty sure that when I sat down with Danielle for a coffee to chat the first thing that came out of my mouth was probably along the lines of “will you be my friend?!” I seriously love what I do and I love it even more when I meet such amazing people! I love it even more when they totally identify with my weird sense of humor. Last week these two brought out the mush for me and indulged in all my requests to be cute and silly. I had so much fun capturing their love AND managing to sneak a session in with those gorgeous spring blossoms! Read a little below from Danielle about their love story! – Nicole
David and I got engaged on New Year’s Eve 2019, just before the clock rolled over into 2020. Knowing that Christmas was going to be full and busy, we planned on a casual NYE at home. We made our own fondue and opened a bottle of wine from one of our travels. Although we had talked about getting engaged, I didn’t know how or when it was going to happen. Even so, I had nervously been holding my breath everytime we got dressed up to go to a Christmas event (as an introvert, a public proposal made me anxious). But I shouldn’t have worried. David knows me so well. The moment ultimately came while we were sitting at our kitchen counter, with our favorite tunes playing in the background and our tummies full of cheese and wine. We had talked about the year past and the years to come. Then David was on his knee asking me to spend my life with him. It was the most magical moment. It was wonderful, special and perfectly us.
Rewind a few years earlier and David and I were meeting for our first date. After weeks of chatting about everything from which of us was the nerdiest (still a hot topic), to our hopes, dreams and goals, we were ready to meet for dinner and a movie. Dressed in my best Star Wars t-shirt, I walked into the pub annoyed and late because – construction. I was also nervous as I looked for David – this person I had only known online and over text. But from the first smile the nerves melted away. We clicked immediately. We both look back now and though we didn’t know where that night would lead, we did know that there was something incredibly special between us.
Today we are planning a spring wedding in the mountains and are so excited to celebrate with our friends and family!
Huge thank you to Nicole who made the process fun and captured us perfectly. She is the best! (AWWWWW YOU’RE WELCOME!!)
