How did you meet?

Kiren’s a pilot and Allison a flight attendant for the same company. They had both worked for the airline for over a year but had never met. At the beginning of a 4-day pairing together, sparks flew and there was an immediate crush on both ends. On the first night away from home, Kiren and Ali ended up evacuating the hotel together when the fire alarm went off in the early hours of the morning. They ended up spending the morning on the beach talking and getting to know each other. The following day was Kiren’s birthday, so it gave them another excuse to spend more time together. After they came home from 4 days in the road, they continued texting and calling and eventually started a relationship.

Engagement story:

Having met in the second half of 2019, most of the time Ali and Kiren spent dating was during the COVID-19 pandemic. They moved in together during the second lockdown. By the time they were ready to make a lifelong commitment, Kiren had never met any of Ali’s family since they lived on the other side of the country and travel restrictions made it impossible to visit. Once travel restrictions were lifted the couple made a trip to Prince Edward Island in the summer of 2021 and with the final piece of meeting the family in place, they planned their engagement.

The proposal came as no surprise. Ali and Kiren bought the ring together, but there was no shortage of romance! The night before Allison left to visit her family, Kiren drove them out to Lake Louise and as they found a quiet moment in the woods together, Kiren got down on one knee and popped the big Q. Of-course she said yes, and as the couple was hugging; cheering and clapping erupted from the walking path. A group of hikers spotted them in the distance and even got the proposal on video! One of the friendly spectators sent Ali the video which was a great surprise.  They went straight from Lake Louise to the airport where Ali hopped on a plane to share the big news with the family.

Neither the bride or groom wanted a long engagement. Kiren proposed in October and they were married 6 months later.

The Wedding Day

There was no bride or groom’s party. No wedding cake, no DJ and no florist. Our venue was so gorgeous we wanted the historical architecture and natural beauty to speak for itself. The exposed brick and natural light that flooded in were beautifully offset with simple green table runners and greenery beautifully placed around the white arch. Hurricane candle holders placed along the floors and tealights on the rustic wooden tables pulled it all together.

Our caterer created such a beautiful menu that the dessert was enough to satisfy everyone’s sweet tooth and with the bride and groom already big music lovers, they wanted to curate their own playlists for the entire day and night.

We had a very intimate group of 25 attendees, including the bride and groom. The brides’ sister officiated the ceremony and the groom’s parents were the witnesses.

As Allison and her father walked down the aisle, a beautiful Indian love song in Kiren’s family’s native language of Malayalam played: parayuvaan song lyrics – YouTube

The couple’s first song was to Hey Girl I Like Your Style – The Temptations. The slow dance didn’t last long as the whole family quickly joined in for an amazing dance party. Definitely one of the highlights of the whole night.

With such a small group, eventually everyone moved downstairs to the groom’s lounge where a billiard table was set up. We talked, played, drank and laughed until the very early hours of the morning. A beautiful and relaxed evening.

The couple left 2 days later for Barbados!
