Tips To Look Your Best in Wedding Photos

When it comes to weddings brides want to look amazing! It’s one of the biggest days of your life and it’s important that you take the appropriate measures to not only look fantastic for your groom, but for your wedding photos. Here are some tips to truly look your best on your big day!

1. Practice that beautiful smile!

This sounds a little silly but sometimes you really have to just practice your smile. If you are anything like me, you might have too big of a smile on occasion that shows your gums or looks a little too excited!

2. Whiten your teeth

I know, this sounds terrible. Whitening your teeth will really help you to look your best and brightens your whole face. It saves your photographer a lot of time in post production, and will also help you to feel more confident. If your teeth are like mine, they might be a bit sensitive. Try not to go overboard, and use sensitive strips if you need to. They work great!

3. Have a manicure

This is usually a given. Having a nice manicure will help complete your look, and boost your confidence which will surely show in your pictures. I highly recommend them, even for the low-maintenance bride.

4. Don’t press your arms against your body

Every girl knows that pancake arms can happen – even to the tiniest among us! Try not to go overboard, but always hold your arms out a little bit from your body to help slim your silhouette, and add dimension to your photographs.

5. Hold the bouquet at your hip

The bouquet doesn’t need to be in every single photo, but it is nice to have in a few. Often, brides are tempted to hold the bouquet at stomach or even chest level when walking down the isle! This draws attention away from your beautiful face. Be confident and lower the bouquet to the hip. In some of the portraits, consider even dropping the bouquet down for a more relaxed, fashion appeal.

6. Elongate your neck

This one can be a bit tricky to accomplish. You don’t want to look stiff, but in some of the photos, especially if you are petite, it’s important to elongate your beautiful neck to add height and dimension to your photographs. Lower your shoulder closest to the camera a little bit, and raise the chin just a touch. Your photographer should guide you if you have any troubles.

7. Have a hair and makeup trial

Always make sure you have a makeup and hair trial. They can be a bit of an expense, but they really help you to prepare for how you will look on your wedding day, so that you can feel confident and relaxed in front of the camera and your guests. This way, there won’t be any surprises!

8. Smile with your eyes

This is so important! You don’t always need to smile with your teeth showing, or even have a big smile at all. When you look into the camera think about how this is the happiest day of your life, and cherish that moment. Take the focus away from having your photo taken, and instead focus your thoughts on how happy and amazing you feel! It will surely reflect in your images.

Have fun, and congratulations!
