We are off to a wonderful and busy 2015! This year we are blessed to be fully booked, and have had a lot of questions from our brides about planning their big day and what the trends are for this year. Here are a few trends that may help you in planning your perfect wedding day!

1. European Influence

Think tea, dining al fresco, lace and United Kingdom. Many couples are taking dining outdoors, and adding vintage china, lace, and dainties to their day.

2. Large Flowers

Top blooms are so popular again this year – as they should be! English roses, peonies, hydrangeas and dahlias are large and beautiful top blooms that add elegance and sophistication to your floral arrangements. Contact your florist and ask about which varieties will be in season for your wedding day.

3. Greenery

Herbs, lush mosses, maidenhair and ferns are among some of the most popular plants being used in interesting ways. You can tie them together for simple adornments on the tables, put on light fixtures, or even use full greenery for your table runners! This gives such a classic, natural yet luxurious and elegant feel without being too over the top.

4. Invitations Adorned With Buttons And Gems

Invitations guests are utilizing additional adornments outside of conventional paper to add to the theme and effect of the wedding. Consider using buttons, gems, ribbons or twine. These really help to emphasize what your wedding is about while adding a touch of class to take your invitations up a notch without trying too hard!

5. Champagne Towers

Champagne Towers are back! To make this ultra opulent treat even more unique and classy, consider using a champagne or signature drink that works with the theme and colours of your wedding.

6. Beverage Tastings

Whether they are signature cocktails, craft beer tasters, wine flights or different flavoured lemonade bars, allowing for smaller samplings of beverages lets your guests try a few different things while showing off your personality and interests as a couple.

7. Family Style Seating

Formal seating arrangements are perfect for certain couples, however family style seating is making a huge comeback. Family Style seating allows for guests to mingle and interact with each other and the bridal party more easily which adds a more intimate feel to your dinner.

8. Tasting Stations

Having a variety of tasting stations allows guests to try different options. Food Trucks are also making a huge impact! Guests will delight in being able to try a variety of foods without the fuss of formalities during the cocktail hour. This helps get people interacting and having a good time! Some other ideas include: Sundae Bars, Oyster Shucking Stations, Cigar Rolling Stations, Build a Taco Station, etc.

9. Textured Cakes

Cakes with interesting geometrical patterns, tulle, and ribboning that are just begging to be eaten are all the rage this year. Feel free to make a bold statement and add a little three dimensionality to your wedding cake!

10. Meaningful Flavours

This year, weddings feature a lot of touches that are significant to the bride and groom to tell their guests about who they are as individuals and as a couple. Many couples are featuring foods from their home towns or backgrounds. Some other ideas include incorporating flavours from meaningful events in your lives. Coconut if you were engaged in Mexico, or Aztec hot chocolate. Other ideas include lavender, honey, or lime!

11. Selfies!

Selfies are all the rage, so why not set up a camera or photo booth station for a cost effective and fun alternative.

12. Old is New

Couples are going back to the oldies with their song choices. Etta James, Ella Fitzgerald, Frank Sinatra, and Louis Armstrong are just a few classic artists that will have people feeling romantic and in the mood to dance with their partner.

13.  Wedding Bands

This one is a bit tricky as it requires finding just the right band for your wedding day style! Big bands, and decade bands are making a huge comeback.

14. Party Bags

Party bags aren’t just for the kids anymore! Instead of traditional favours, many couples are putting a bag of late night snacks together because they know their guests will be starving once they get home. Other ideas include soaps, bath products, or the fixings to a really good appy night!

15. Artists

Many couples are hiring cartoonists and artists that will draw pictures of people, or anything they want during the evening, a la Parisian style! Guests will leave with their own personal artwork to take away. Oo la la!

Happy Planning!
