Calgary Tented Summer Wedding
Capturing Madilin and Colton’s tented summer wedding in Calgary, Alberta, was such a special experience. I had the privilege of photographing another family wedding at this same family acreage a few years ago, and it was amazing to return. The sprawling foothills and the mountains in the distance provided a stunning backdrop, especially as the sun dipped below the horizon, casting a warm, golden light over the entire celebration.
Ceremony: Childhood Memories and Sweet Moments
The ceremony took place on the very lawn where Colton had spent his childhood summers. The memories here were rich—this was where they used to slip and slide as kids. It felt like the perfect place for such a meaningful moment. Guests gathered on the grass, surrounded by lush greenery, with the gentle sounds of nature in the background.
As Madilin walked down the aisle, a soft breeze swept through the trees, and there was a beautiful petal toss just before they exchanged vows. The love between these two was palpable. They even shared private vows during an emotional first look earlier in the day, which made the ceremony all the more intimate!
Decor: Elegant, Chic, and Full of Greenery
The wedding decor was simply stunning. A large tent was set up overlooking the horses and the family barn, creating a rustic yet elegant atmosphere. The sparkling lights hanging from the tent cast a soft glow as the evening approached.
The floral arrangements were full of greenery and delicate baby’s breath, creating a chic and timeless feel. The soft whites and greens complemented the natural surroundings perfectly, bringing an elegant simplicity to the entire celebration. Every detail, from the candles to the centrepieces, was thoughtfully chosen, giving the space a warm, inviting feel.
Reception: Dancing, Lawn Games, and a Thunderstorm
As the reception kicked off, the dance floor was immediately filled with energy. Madilin and Colton’s first dance was an unforgettable moment, and the guests followed suit, dancing the night away. But the fun didn’t stop there—lawn games were set up for guests to enjoy during breaks from dancing, adding a playful touch to the evening.
Just as the night was hitting its stride, a brief thunderstorm rolled in. The rain came down in sheets, but it didn’t stop the fun! Everyone huddled under the tent, enjoying the warmth and comfort of the space as the storm raged outside. The sound of the rain added to the magic of the moment, making the night feel even more intimate.
A Perfect Day
Madilin and Colton’s wedding was filled with unforgettable moments. From the intimate ceremony on the lawn to the lively reception under the tent, it was clear that this was a celebration of love, family, and memories.
