Woodland Engagement Session in Calgary
The first time Jennifer emailed me and described herself as a “huge marshmallow for nostalgia”, I knew we’d be friends. Jennifer and Corey have such a quiet, sweet and tender love that is so beautiful to capture. I love that they are huge Netflix nerds like me. Needless to say, we had a lot to talk and laugh about during our engagement session- especially while trudging up hill through thistle bushes! I am so excited to have the honour of capturing their wedding in May. Read on to learn a little bit more about these love birds.
Corey and I both attended the University of Lethbridge
and moved into school housing, ending up right next door to one another. On the very first day, it was immediate attraction. After months of school parties and awkward flirting, we shared our first kiss, and the rest is history. We finished out the next five years of school, battling long distance summers, school stress, and the loss of my father. We came out stronger as individuals and as a couple, and chose to move forward together. We returned to Corey’s hometown of Sparwood BC, and lived with his parents until we were able to find a home of our own. Our relationship is proof that years of working hard to stay together is incredibly worth it, and that true love can be found in the boy next door!
After months of house hunting, we finally found a duplex to call home. We did weeks of renovating and updating, then finally got to move in on March 18th. We unpacked our things, settled in with an episode of Survivor, then Corey says he’s planned something romantic. He asks me to wait downstairs while he “set up” in our bedroom. Then he calls me up, and as I’m climbing the stairs he says, “Did you know you make me the happiest man in the world? I think this house is going to be perfect for us, because we get to spend every day together. I love you.” Then I open the door, and he’s down on one knee asking, “Will you marry me?” Of course, I say yes! And turns out his “setting up” was him getting the whole thing on video so I could treasure the moment forever!
